MID—BREATH

Captured on a cell phone across spaces of transition, a diasporic voice reaches toward an elusive home, where the same signal transmits as a ritual, a film, a voicemail, and a poem.

Mid-Breath situates the diasporic body at a series of thresholds: the ghat, between the living and the dead; the train, a colonial infrastructure that turned geography into a wound and a split; the carnival, where excess and grief occupy the same space. The film moves between ritual, memory, labour, longing and inherited language, allowing the image, the voice and the place to remain partially unresolved.
